Our Story

How It Started

On the Upward was founded in 2023, by our CEO, Aysia Mayo-Gray. Growing up in inner-city Washington, D.C., Aysia knows firsthand the challenges and obstacles that adolescents from marginalized communities face. After witnessing the struggles of those around her and breaking through barriers of her own, Aysia vowed to commit to making a difference in the community. Aysia saw a need for support, resources, and opportunities for marginalized communities, and took action by building On The Upward Initiative.

With nothing but a vision and determination, Aysia gathered a group of her like-minded peers who shared the same passion for creating positive change and giving back to the community. Together, they joined forces and aimed to provide support, resources, and empowerment to those in need.
